DeBroglie- Almost Quantum

Formulae from sheet, R is also given, but it may be easier to remember 13.6 eV for hydrogen.

Schrodinger, note momentum = p = mv. So when v = zero the wavelength goes to infinity.

2006

(b) You have gathered, processed and analysed information related to the development of atomic theory.
(i) Describe how you ensured that the information you gathered was reliable.
(ii) The atomic theory changed as a result of the contributions of both Heisenberg and Pauli.
Analyse how the work of both scientists modified the atomic theory at that time.

2002
(a) (i) Describe Davisson and Germer’s experiment that confirmed thede Broglie hypothesis of wave-particle duality.
(ii) Explain the stability of the electron orbits in the Bohr atom, using de Broglie’s hypothesis.

About Me

My photo
I come from a Science family: My father Geoffrey Hill was Australia's first computer programmer on CSIRAC the fourth computer in the world. He is credited with invention of Computer music and the development of “Interprogram” a language before Basic. My PhD is in Atomic and Molecular Physics. I have researched the activated oxygen layer above the ozone layer, and 'Assigned' the world's smallest molecule. At the University of Toronto I researched high power UV lasers. I have specialized in automation in fibre optics. This developed into research in Machine Intellect and Robots. I have enjoyed work as an Explainer with Questacon and my time as a part-time soldier. I currently teach High School Science at Epping Boys’ High.
